Worry

If I were to be labelled, people would say I am an A-type personality. I like order and structure, but as I get older, I’ve learnt to go with the flow a little and not to be ‘as’ controlling!

I remember the day, many years back when I finally told my Mum that I had hired a cleaner. I don’t know why I was so worried about her reaction. I think I feared feeling like I was a failure at life in her eyes. That I could no longer juggle my life of running a business and dealing with the day to day tasks. And this was all before the children came along.

To my surprise my mum said “Oh thank goodness Briana. That is the smartest thing you have done in a long time!” I think my mouth hung open for what seemed like minutes because I had a pre-conceived idea that I would be shot down in flames rather than supported.

It’s amazing how sometimes we carry an idea, a thought, or a potential outcome that is completely different to what it ends up being. We overthink and fear something that never even eventuates. My dad had a great saying, and he used to say it to me A LOT! “Cross that bridge IF you come to it.”
And how right was he? There is no point worrying about something that might never happen. Staying in the present and being present is far more fulfilling than entrenching worry lines on my forehead. I may be a bit slow on the uptake, but I am learning…
